Time for tea
February 20, 2013 | Category: knitting
Well, the tiny tea leaves jacket is done. I even managed to find some gorgeous buttons locally. There is a handmade market here once a month, and it just so happened that this past Sunday was market day and, how great is this, I walked past a stall that had a tiny little box just full of hand-made wooden buttons. It was barely on display, sitting down on a tiny stool at the very edge of their display almost hidden underneath a stand of bags and aprons. But somehow I spied it as we were wandering past, and I found just the right buttons hiding inside that box. Too bad it turned out that there is an error in the pattern in that it calls for ginormous buttons, but the button band is only written for really small ones so I almost didn’t get to use them. I love the buttons though so after a while just sitting there wondering what to do, I just ripped out the button band and re-knit it to incorporate two proper button holes and it looks great.
I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I like the colour, I love the buttons, and I think it looks all kinds of adorable on Zoe. Most importantly, Zoe was really excited it was all done and was more than happy to test it out while I took some photos. Her favourite part is the big buttons that are super easy for her to do herself. She spent a lot of time buttoning and unbuttoning it to show me she could do it all by herself.
Already our days have started getting ever so slightly shorter, and ever so slightly cooler in the evenings. I am so ready for Autumn to fully grace us with her presence, but for now I am happy enough to be able to slip outside and enjoy the beautiful warmth and haze of the last light each day. I took a few photos of the jacket yesterday, and the ones of her in the jeans and jacket this evening because the light was too pretty to resist!
Making a wish? Hehe.
And lastly, I spent last night and this afternoon knitting up another bunny and working on the finishing touches and fine tuning my pattern. The hardest thing is coming up with a great name for this bunny! There are a few names jangling around in my brain but nothing is screaming perfect at me yet. Feel free to give me a suggestion if you think you have a good one!
I hope to have the pattern ready by the end of the week, time allowing. I am finding it frustrating trying to get anything done at the moment with the little girls needing my attention in some form all day long, and of course when everyone is home it is pretty much just chaos. Sometimes I try to just embrace the chaos, and other times the chaos just beats me over the head instead.
What are you working on?
Linking up with the lovely Frontier Dreams again for KCCO.

How about The Briar Rabbit pattern as a name? I love to see your projects as they develop, gives me hope for mine!
Your day's are starting to get cooler and mine are just starting to come from the deep freeze we've had in the Uk .. I should have a holiday home in the southern hemisphere and travel between the two to avoid the cold
Those buttons were made for that cardi! God had them saved just for you ; )
And hmm…I'm going to have to think of a cute name for bunny!
The tea leaves cardigan looks absolutely gorgeous on your sweet girl! I love the buttons too. How about Hoppie for a bunny pattern name.
You know Briar was actually one of the names I was thinking of!
What sort of project/pattern are you working on? I feel like my design process is sooo slow. I have about 10 different things that I need to "finish", some that have been sitting for a few years! because I just don't have enough time to dedicate to them. I have to remind myself sometimes the kids will only be little once, there is still many years I'll have to design… but ugh :p
I'm glad it doesn't get super duper deep freeze freezing here I have to admit
I romanticise the cold weather because it doesn't snow or sleet right where I live but the summers are disgustingly hot
I think so!
They were just *perfect*.
Thank you
The buttons are my favourite part.
I quite like Manon, I don't think I've heard of that before
Aw thank you! Makes me very happy to see her wearing her cardi.
That tiny tea leaves cardigan is absolutely lovely and so are you pictures. Looking forward to the bunny pattern to be released!
How about Hazel for the bunny? (from Watership Down, I love that book!) Your little girl looks super cute in her new sweater
You seriously have the most adorable children!! And th tea leaves looks sobeautiful and earthy with those buttons. Perfection!
Oh my…will this bunny pattern be available soon? I am still deciding on what to make my little guy for Easter… ahem;)
I like that name, too!
Oh and this pulls up my e-mailadd name but it's Nicole from Frontier Dreams
I'm working off a pattern right now that is on my laptop that I'm loaning to my dad to work with until his new one gets here! So I haven't been working on it for a while. I've got wadding to stuff the little toy dog in black and white I'm crochet'ing (how do you make a verb from this word?!) .. also what do you use to fill your knitted toys? Do you do crochet patterns or just knitting ones?
I haven't yet had the skills to really try making my own patterns yet, I'm still so much of a newbie to this even if I have made a huge blanket from triple crochet stitch with a wavy scallop edge!
Oh Amanda! That tiny tea-leaves is gorgeous! Even more so the little lass wearing it
Hazel is really cute! I've never read Watership Down… might have to put it on the to-read list.
Thank you so much Julia
I have the pattern all ready to go tomorrow, fingers crossed I find the time. The hardest part (for me) in the final stages of pattern release is picking which photos to use. I want to use them all!
Thanks so much for the compliments too, I also really think the buttons "make" the sweater.
Psst I settled on Briar for a name
