dollcake dress zoe

Piper’s first birthday is now less than a week away, and her birthday party a little over. I have almost completely finished making her presents, Maddy just finished up her gift to Piper this afternoon, and all that is really left after that is to finish up her birthday crown and make a few decorations for the party. I am eagerly anticipating introducing a new (to us) tradition of a waldorf birthday ring and finally, after spending the last several weeks being sad about the final months/weeks/days of her babyhood passing so quickly, have transitioned to being more excited about what her second year will hold.

I decided we should try out the birthday dresses this afternoon because they’re just so beautiful I kind of didn’t want to wait any longer and also, it was a nice distraction from flip flopping between those sad and happy emotions about this most important birthday.  So these are a little sneaky peek into what my beautiful girls look like in their gorgeous dresses.

The long sleeves on Maddy’s dress are going to be way too warm for our hot hot hot summer weather, so I am trying to figure out how to cut them and fix them up to make it more summer appropriate.

And the soon-to-be One baby girl herself who did not want to keep that headband on at all, but whom I managed to distract with a bracelet on the windowsill long enough to get just a couple of photos with it on her head. That dress is not the dress (and I kind of laugh that I even care about this kind of thing) but the extra one I bought because I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. Yeah. I have ventured into that crazy ohnomybabyisturningONE freak out territory where I care about the perfect birthday dress. In my defence, I got them all on a massive sale.

Lots of pretty dresses all in a row making me smile, albeit a little wistfully.

Oh my …. this is so dreamy … please, do share where you found the dresses … they are beyond magical!

As a mommy of five, whose baby will turn one in April, I feel your pain and I know that flip flop. {sigh} My only answer is to have another baby … ;)

What a whimsical party it's going to be! All the dresses need are some wings ; )

YOu could just take the sleeves off (unpick them) then turn the armhole under and sew closed! sleeveless

I could… if the unpicker didn't scare me ;) I was thinking of maybe them just short sleeves but unpicking for sleeveless might work better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Funnily enough, I have lots of wings ;) Haha. It's not a big party, even though it probably seems like it since I'm all OTT on the dresses front. Just some family and a few friends.

Thanks! :) I adore the dresses. I wish I had one in my size! They are all by dollcake and babycakevintage (which is the baby side of dollcake).
