A rainy start

pouring rain

Even though the leaves haven’t turned yet, and the air isn’t crisp in that pleasantly cool but not frigid way, I am excited. It’s Autumn! It rained all day today, on this first day of Autumn, and it completely put me in the mood for settling in with a bunch of knitting projects and endless cups of steaming hot coffee. Instead, I kept the two little girls busy and then we ventured out in the pouring rain to take care of a few errands. Hot coffee was sipped hurriedly at the cafe, rather than at home with knitting by my side, and when I finally did have a moment to grab another at home it was stone cold by the time I got around to drinking it.

Another little finished knit. A sweet friend on Ravelry sent me the pattern as a gift. It turned out cute enough and I think took only around two balls of WOOLganic merino yarn.

madeline tosh vintage wicked

Rainy weather must bring the yarn, because the yarn for my Levenwick cardigan arrived, along with a few other things for various projects. This stuff is so pretty. I can’t wait to get started working on my cardi now, I think I’ll wind some of the yarn tonight. It is Madeline Tosh vintage in the “Wicked” colourway. A little different in person to how I thought it was going to be, even after checking finished projects and stashes on Ravelry, but still just gorgeous. I’m working on several commissioned Briar Bunnies so I’m going to have to squeeze in some knitting for me between bunny body pieces I think.

tosh yarn pretties in a basket

Some of the pretties nestled inside my knitting basket right now. I’m in search of a great knitting bag and not having much luck. I’ve had this canvas tote with bunches of pockets on it for years, way back when I first started on Etsy (sooo… late 2006ish I think) but it’s pretty ugly and beat up nowadays. I have yarn stuffed in cupboards and baskets and boxes so the storage isn’t an issue, but I like having everything I’m working on right with me just in case inspiration strikes. So in my bag I have a bunch of different size needles, DPNS, stitch markers, row counters, and so on and so on and I just can’t find the perfect bag that will take care of everything I want it to. If you know a great knitting bag, can you give me the link so I can check it out? Matt wanted to get me one for my birthday that has just passed and we couldn’t find the perfect bag.

piper with waldorf doll

piper cranky

One last thing. This is Zoe’s baby. She loves this doll like crazy, and it was passed down to her from Maddy. Baby has seen better days, and is a little stained and her mouth needs to be stitched back on properly, and her hair is falling off (also needs to be stitched back on… I keep on forgetting to fix it), but all those are just signs of the crazy love my girls have for this doll. Piper also loves this doll like crazy though, and whenever it’s left in one spot for long enough she comes along and sneakily takes it away! I can’t believe my baby (ok, toddler) is already at this stage. See her mad face in the second photo? She is clinging to the doll and yelling “UH UH” at Zoe for daring to try to take her own baby back. Something tells me our youngest is going to be a feisty one.

Linking up once again with Frontier Dreams with KCCO.
